Being a member of Cookham Reach Sailing Club provides you with lots of benefits that are detailed throughout this website. You become a part of a welcoming, inclusive club which provides a warm and friendly place to sail, paddleboard or canoe whether you are interested in leisure or racing in a dinghy or you want to paddleboard or canoe. Our club has facilities by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire which provide easy access to the river.
The club is run by volunteers, which means that you will need to give some of your time back to the club to help with choice of tasks such as serving event teas, bar duty or helping with managing race days. If you are inexperienced with any or all of these tasks there will be somebody to show you the ropes. In addition to duties we also ask if you can help us maintain the club’s facilities and grounds as we hold several working parties through the year, these are always fun ways to meet fellow club members and get involved in the club social scene.
Whenever the club is running a sailing day or social event there is food and a well-stocked bar available for club members. To help new club members feel welcomed into the club you will receive a welcome pack, regular emails with club news and we hold several induction days during the year where you can learn all about sailing at the club, the events we hold, how to improve your sailing skills at the training courses we hold and much more.
Another benefit of club membership is use of our boat park. Dinghies, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards can be stored on the club site for a small fee. You can store your boat year round and its easy to go on the water from our jetty or take it elsewhere.
One of the excellent benefits that sailing members can take advantage of are our club boats. You don’t need your own boat to start sailing at Cookham Reach Sailing Club, we have club boats in several different classes which can be used for leisure sailing, training and for race events at the club.
