Final day in the Autumn Series cancelled

A lack of wind and strong river current meant that the Finals day of the Autumn Series on October 29th was cancelled. A couple of weeks of heavy rain leading up to the weekend had caused the River Thames to be on red river status between Marlow lock to Cookham lock for most of the week, but it changed on Saturday 28th to yellow decreasing giving a glimmer of hope. However, the forecast of 10mph winds gusting to 20mph only briefly appeared around lunchtime and quickly disappeared again when heavy rain showers commenced. The race officers, Peter and Sally Wyatt decided to cancel the day’s racing due to the inconsistent wind.

This means that the series positions from the most recent day’s racing on October 15th stand and Gary Adshead (OK 1998) has won the Handicap class and Andrew Yuille (LN 446) has won the Lightning 368 class in the 2023 Cookham Reach Sailing Club Autumn Series.
