The club hosted a coaching session for novice sailors on Saturday 12th September attended by eleven sailors, many of whom are new members to the club this year. The session started with a tutorial on land about how the wind affects the sail and how to position the sail in the wind, followed by a tacking demonstration.

The sailors, then took to the water in the club’s Toppers and Lightnings to sail a simple course, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session and improved their new skills through the session. The coaching afternoon was finished off with a demonstration of capsizing and some of our young sailors practiced the capsize drill and passed with flying colours.

Well done to our new sailors and thank you to the club members who helped out during the afternoon. We are looking forward to holding another session again soon.
