Autumn Series to be decided on the last day’s sailing

This Sunday’s sailing at Cookham Reach Sailing Club will see both Lightning 368 and Handicap classes decided. Going into the final day’s sailing on Sunday October 24th, the Lightning 368 class sees the top three sailors separated by five points with Martin Evans (LN 150) leading Clive Evison (LN 412) by two points and Duncan Watts (LN 431) a further three points behind. Martin and Clive can win the series, but dropped scores will come into play as Martin has yet to drop scores in the series and so will drop scores in the final round if he sails. Clive has sailed more races and dropped three thirds and a second, so needs first places to gain points on Martin. Duncan’s third place in the series is secure as Mary Webb is 25 points behind in fourth.

In the Handicap class, Gary Adshead (OK 1998) and Alastair McMichael (OK 1695) are tied on 178 points and dropped scores could also decide who takes the series as currently, Gary leads due to better dropped scores and both sailors will drop scores on the final day if they sail. James Long (OK 1990) lies third in the series on 167 points.

Racing starts at 11am with four races during the day, two in the morning and two after lunch. Spectators are welcome to watch from the seating next to the club jetty or from the riverside.
