Races will be sailed in accordance with the Sailing Instructions for points racing and I.S.A.F. Rules except that starting and finishing procedures shall be modified as follows:
STARTING
Class starts will be synchronized for the start time and the duration of each race (see table in this book). It is the responsibility of each helm to be ready at the correct time.
Attention signal: xxx minutes (see table) before the first start sequence the Club burgee will be displayed at the starting line masthead and one sound signal (1 second) will be made.
Two minutes before the starting time for a particular group, the group warning flag allocated in these sailing instructions will be displayed and one sound signal made.
At the starting time allocated for the group, the group flag will be removed and one sound signal made. If there are premature starter(s), the flag will be held at the dip and a second sound signal made. The flag will be held at the dip until all premature starters have returned or it is apparent that they will not return. Verbal notification will be given whenever possible to premature starters but the onus to make a correct start rests with the helm.
FINISHING
On the completion of the published race time the OD shall make one long sound signal and determine the positions of all boats. The OD’s decision on placing is final. After the sound signal for the finish of the race all other boats should note the boat ahead and the boat behind, and maintain their relative positions. Overtaking after the sound signal is not permitted and may result in disqualification.
